About me
I am Jocelyn Alfonso Kohhata. Born in the Philippines, I moved to Japan after marrying a Japanese. In the Philippines, I studied Biology at the University of the Philippines and then worked in sales at a learning materials company. In Philippine universities, lessons are conducted in English. As English is also an official language, everyone learns it from preschool. Additionally, the presence of many English TV programs creates a conducive environment for learning English
It’s well-known in Asia that Japanese people often struggle with English. Certainly, the linguistic distance between English and Japanese is a factor. However, I’ve also met several Japanese who speak fluent English. English is undeniably the lingua franca today. Thanks to the internet, the environment for learning English in Japan has improved.
